evidence-based strength coaching for masters athletes

Strength Wise Barbell is not your typical coaching service.

I'm here to redefine what it means to excel in your 40s and beyond, whether you're a seasoned athlete or just looking to reach your strength potential.

When you partner with me, you're committing to results for decades.

Mindset Training, Your Superpower

Your mental training deserves as much focus as your physical training. I want to make your brain as imposing as your biceps. I use validated tools and techniques to create goals, implement plans, and remove obstacles.

Proven Results, Not Promises

My clients are the living testament to what's possible when you train with me. From shattering personal records in their 70s to crossing that finish line to staying healthy through the season, they exemplify aging without compromise. Your goals are my goals. I'll do everything I can to get you there.

Synching with your Care Team

As we age, we often need the expertise of other professionals. I partnering with physical therapists, physicians, chiropractors, occupational therapists, massage therapists, and other professionals to get you back to 100% sooner.

The Art of Less

Competing as a masters athlete means laser-focused training plans. My programs drive performance without grueling hours in the gym or junk volume. Data guides programming decisions rather than how hot, sweaty, and sore I can make you.

A MODEL FOR EFFECTIVE STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING TRAINING

The strength and conditioning field has evolved in the last 20 years. Improved research methodology, funding, and lab equipment has generated new insights about the best way to train teams and individuals. It’s also injected confusion into the mix.

actionable TRAINING INSIGHTS

We also have better data tracking, including subjective and objective data. But more information doesn’t always equal better outcomes. I came from the business world before embarking on my coaching journey. I learned from managing global marketing teams in the digital era the science and art of creating meaning from data. Like how to disregard powerful secondary data that would make life easy but which is contradicted by professional experience and qualitative insights.

The Strength Wise coaching model

We use an iterative process to drive long-term performance gains. This includes:

  • Assessment process that elicits physical and mental states that affect training

  • Program planning that structured training cycles based on athletic goals and reality, like huge work deadlines or vacation

  • Workout design specifically tailored to athlete development needs including mobility, end-range strength, energy systems, reactive strength, explosiveness, and movement patterns

  • Data tracking with multiple inputs: weekly and monthly volume, estimated 1 rep maxes, athlete intuition and feedback, readiness scores, chronic-to-acute workload ratio, and simply how someone is feeling.
